On Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Fargo, N.D., I married the love of my life and best friend, Cal. The ceremony was held at St. John’s Church at Bonanzaville in West Fargo. The reception was at Country Inn & Suites in Fargo.
Our wedding was simple yet elegant and classic. We kept many traditions, but with a fun twist. I decided to forego the traditional bridal entrance song and instead walked down the aisle to a beautiful piano version of Beyonce’s “Halo.” We even skipped down the aisle during the recessional to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”! Our grand entrance was to Bon Jovi’s “Shot Through the Heart” and our wedding party burst through the doors with Nerf guns (credit for that idea goes to my new sister-in-law!). We like to laugh and be silly, and our wedding day reflected that.
Bonanzaville was a perfect place for our ceremony because of its historical buildings and museum and pioneer village around us. While we took photos, our guests got to see the museum and learn about North Dakota culture. It is a unique place, and its old buildings and gorgeous church made it so much fun for everyone.
We had many children at our wedding, and during the reception, the kids stole the show. They danced all night! The ring bearer, Cal’s almost 4-year-old nephew Kael, breakdanced, did his rendition of “Gangnam Style,” and danced with all the ladies. And in between showing off his sweet moves, he couldn’t get enough of our raspberry swirl with cream cheese frosting cupcakes. They were to die for.
My photographer was one of my good friends from my hometown in Indiana. She shot our wedding while 7 months pregnant! We had amazing videographers with us all day too (shout-out to Preston and Justin at Grassfire Studios!), and here’s what they captured on our wedding day:
I have amazing memories from that day, and I can’t wait to see what comes next in our journey in life together!
